Second round play washed out at Deere Run
CHICAGO (Reuters) - The second round of the John Deere Classic in Silvis, Illinois was washed out by heavy rain on Friday and has been postponed until Saturday.
Officials had hoped to start the round in the late afternoon at the TPC Deere Run but were forced to abandon plans with the course still unplayable shortly before the first groups were scheduled to tee off.
The second round will begin at 0700 local time (8 a.m. EDT) on Saturday with a two-tee start.
Americans Lee Janzen and Darron Stiles lead the tournament by a stroke after opening with seven-under-par 64s on Thursday.
Janzen, a double U.S. Open champion, is bidding for his first PGA Tour victory in more then a decade while Stiles is seeking his maiden win on the U.S. circuit.
Americans J.J. Henry, Dean Wilson and PGA Tour rookie Matt Bettencourt shared third place on 65 while Australian Jason Day was among a group of four on 66.
Tour veteran Kenny Perry, who won last year's title at Deere Run in a three-way playoff, was four strokes off the pace after carding a 68 in the first round.
