PARIS, Sept 13 (Reuters) - French media group Vivendi (VIV.PA: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) is holding discussions with Saudi Oger which may lead to an equity investment in Oger Telecom, it said in a statement on Thursday.

Vivendi said it was unable to comment further at this stage.

Oger Telecom runs phone services in Turkey and South Africa, and Internet services in Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Lebanon.

It is majority owned by Saudi Oger, which in turn is controlled by relatives of late Lebanese prime minister Rafiq Hariri.

Telecom Italia (TLIT.MI: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said on June 29 it had sold its 10.36 percent stake in Oger Telecom to Saudi Oger for $477 million. It was part of a plan to dispose of non-core assets.
