SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 27 (Reuters) - Jabil Circuit Inc (JBL.N) reported a quarterly net profit on Thursday, reversing a year-ago loss as the contract electronics manufacturer trimmed expenses related to compensation and restructuring.

Jabil, which makes components for companies such as networking equipment supplier Cisco Systems Inc (CSCO.O) and mobile telephone giant Nokia (NOK1V.HE), said net profit for its fiscal fourth quarter was $11.7 million, or 6 cents per share.

That compared with a net loss of $45.6 million, or 22 cents per share, a year earlier.

Excluding special items such as stock-based compensation, amortization of intangibles and restructuring charges, Jabil earned 29 cents per share, beating the 28-cent average forecast of Wall Street analysts on Reuters Estimates.

The company said last year that it will record cash costs of $150 million to $200 million over two fiscal years for a previously announced realignment of manufacturing capacity.

Revenue was $3.1 billion, up 3.3 percent from a year earlier and ahead of the $3 billion average analyst estimate.

The St. Petersburg, Florida-based company said it expected adjusted profit for its fiscal first quarter in a range of 33 cents to 37 cents per share on revenue of $3.3 billion, in line with Wall Street expectations.

Jabil shares fell 1 percent to $24.24 in extended trading after the results were announced. In the regular session on the New York Stock Exchange, the shares closed up 0.3 percent at $24.50.

Over the past year, Jabil shares have fallen 15 percent, compared to a fall of nearly 11 percent for those of its chief rival, Flextronics International Ltd (FLEX.O). (Reporting by Scott Hillis)
