Taiwan's Acer says Q1 net profit up 41 pct y/y
TAIPEI, April 26 (Reuters) - Taiwan's Acer Inc. (2353.TW), the world's third-largest PC vendor, posted a 41 percent rise in first quarter net profit, thanks to strong PC demand in emerging countries and its growing market share in the computer industry.
Acer posted a first quarter (January-March) net profit of T$5.66 billion (US$170 million), higher than T$4.02 billion a year ago. The result beat market forecast of T$3.34 billion, according to eight analysts on Reuters Estimates. Acer, Taiwan's top computer brand, made a net profit of T$1.265 billion in the fourth quarter of 2006.
