Allison Janney joins Fox family cartoon
By Nellie Andreeva
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Allison Janney will lend her voice to Fox's animated comedy "The Pitts," which chronicles the adventures of the unluckiest family in the world.
The project is based on a live-action comedy series that aired on Fox in 2003. Janney, an Emmy winner for her work on "The West Wing," will voice the Mom, Liz Pitt.
Dylan Baker and Lizzy Caplan, who starred in the original series, signed on last year to reprise their roles as father Bob Pitt and daughter Faith. Also in October, Andy Milonakis was cast as Petey, the son.
With Janney on board, the animated project will do a table read next week. If that goes well, "Pitts" will be ordered straight to series. The networks, desperate for new product after the Hollywood writers strike, are rushing shows into production before a possible actors walkout in the summer.
Janney most recently co-starred in "Hairspray" and "Juno."
