Alexander Skarsgard joins HBO vampire romance

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgard, a son of Stellan Skarsgard, has joined the cast of "True Blood," Alan Ball's new vampire drama series for HBO.

Based on the "Southern Vampire" book series by Charlaine Harris, "True Blood" centers on the love story between a vampire, Bill (Stephen Moyer), and Sookie (Anna Paquin), a waitress who can read people's minds.

Skarsgard will play a vampire and Viking who has been alive for more than a thousand years. He recently wrapped HBO's miniseries "Generation Kill."
