LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Samuel L. Jackson is venturing into network television with a first-look deal at CBS Paramount Network TV, the studio behind CBS' "CSI" franchise and the CW's "Everybody Hates Chris."

Under the two-year pact, Jackson will develop and executive produce projects for the studio through his Uppity Films banner. He is open to the idea of appearing in any shows he develops in the vein of Salma Hayek's arc on ABC's "Ugly Betty," which she executive produces.

"Samuel Jackson is not only a fan of television but a really astute historian who knows it well," said CBS Paramount president David Stapf.

Jackson's only previous stint as a TV producer is with Spike TV's animated series "Afro Samurai," which is returning this fall. The busy actor's recent movie credits include "Jumper" and "1408."
