Jamie Kennedy joins "Ghost Whisperer"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Jamie Kennedy is joining the cast of the CBS drama "Ghost Whisperer" as a regular.

On "Ghost," which returns for a fourth season in the fall, Kennedy will play Eli, a graduate student in psychology at the local university who forms a bond with Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt).

Kennedy fills the void left by the upcoming departure of Jay Mohr.

Mohr, who had been a regular on "Ghost" for the past two seasons as Professor Rick Payne, is expected to appear in the first couple of episodes before his character, Payne, goes on sabbatical.

Mohr will segue full time to his new series for CBS, the comedy "Project Gary," on which he plays the title character.
