Comedian Amy Sedaris developing TV sitcom
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Comedian Amy Sedaris has signed a deal to create, write and star in a comedy series project that will be produced by 20th Century Fox TV.
The project will be co-produced by David Letterman's Worldwide Pants. Sedaris is a longtime friend of Letterman's and a frequent guest on his "Late Show" on CBS.
Sedaris and writing partner Paul Dinello are "fleshing out" the premise for the show, which is based on an idea Sedaris came up with about six years ago.
"It just seemed the right time to do it now," she said.
While the show will be scripted, there will be room for Second City alumna to showcase her improv skills.
"She is a loose cannon and always adds something when we're shooting," Dinello said.
The project will be taken out to the networks in the next few weeks, with Sedaris and Dinello hoping it will land on cable.
Sedaris is busy filming an arc on TNT's "The Closer" as the sister of agent Fritz Howard (Jon Tenney) and promoting the paperback release of her book "I Like You."
