Discovery embarks on new high-def nature series
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - In the wake of the wildly popular "Planet Earth," Discovery Channel is planning another high-definition documentary nature series.
The network is teaming with Keith Scholey, the former head of the BBC's Natural History Unit, for a multiyear production deal to capture the world continent by continent.
First up, under the working title "Wild Planet: North America," is a seven-part series that starts filming this year. The production will use the cutting-edge filming techniques popularized in the "Planet Earth" series.
