Jerry Hall to star in TV adaptation of Amis novel
LONDON (Reuters) - Actress and model Jerry Hall, the former partner of Mick Jagger, will star in a television adaptation of British author Martin Amis's 1984 novel "Money," the BBC said on Wednesday.
The two-part drama based on the fable of excess will be aired on the British channel in spring 2010 and is part of a series of programs focusing on 1980s Britain.
"It ... says something universal about the corrupting nature of capitalism and greed," the channel said in a statement.
Hall, 53, who had four children with the Rolling Stones frontman, will play the "wooden" soap actress Caduta Massi in her biggest television role to date.
The central character of John Self, a British director of commercials, will be played by Nick Frost.
"Although set in the 80s, Money is an incredibly timely drama, satirizing the pitfalls of the dedicated pursuit of wealth in a brilliantly dark and comic way," said Kate Harwood, head of BBC series and serials.
Martin Amis, 60, is the son of the late British author Sir Kingsley Amis.
