BANGKOK May 12 Thai authorities postponed a
plan announced earlier on Wednesday to shut off power and cut
supplies to a central Bangkok district occupied by
anti-government protesters, saying they feared the impact on
"On cutting off water supplies and power, we decided that
the protesters will be less affected than residents, so we have
postponed it for now," said army spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd.
The authorities have been faced with a dilemma of how to
dislodge thousands of protesters, including women and children,
from their fortified encampment sprawling across 3 sq km (1.2
sq mile) of Bangkok's main shopping district.
