ABB working at capacity, sees more jobs - paper
ZURICH, March 8 (Reuters) - Swiss engineering giant ABB (ABBN.VX) is working at full capacity and is looking to employ thousands in 2007, German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) quoted Chief Executive Officer Fred Kindle as saying.
"The processing of orders is happening at the limits of what is internally possible," Kindle said in an interview with newspaper due to be published on Saturday.
By the end of 2006, ABB had orders worth $17 billion -- a third more than at the end of 2005, it has said previously.
The group aims to keep delivery times to a maximum of a year by employing more temporary workers and full-time staff.
In 2006, ABB employed nearly 5,000 extra workers.
"The number of new appointments could reach that number in 2007 too," Kindle said.
ABB has profited from rising demand for energy-efficient power generation systems and as industrialised and developing countries revamp or expand their power generation systems.
