Japan's TOPIX down 4 pct on U.S. recession fears

TOKYO, Feb 6 (Reuters) - Japan's TOPIX index fell more than 4 percent on Wednesday, dragged down by exporters such as Canon Inc (7751.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) amid renewed fears of a U.S. recession.

As of 0351 GMT, the broad-based TOPIX index shed 4 percent to 1,301.20. The benchmark Nikkei average .N225 was down 4.4 percent at 13,140.17. (Reporting by Aiko Hayashi)
