TOKYO, Oct 3 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average opened 0.1 percent higher on Wednesday, with Fanuc Ltd (6954.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and Canon Inc (7751.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) extending gains.
As of 0001 GMT, the benchmark Nikkei .N225 was up 19.36 points at 17,066.14 The broader TOPIX index was up 0.2 percent at 1,642.54.
