FACTBOX - Military deaths in Afghanistan

(Reuters) - A German soldier has been killed and three injured by a bomb explosion in northern Afghanistan, German officials said on Wednesday.

The death, near the city of Kunduz, brings the number of German soldiers killed in attacks in Afghanistan since early 2002 to 12, while 16 more died in accidents or from other causes.

Here are figures for foreign military deaths as a result of violence or accidents in Afghanistan since the Taliban government was toppled in 2001:
