FACTBOX: Presidential contests this weekend

(Reuters) - Washington, Louisiana, Kansas, Nebraska and Maine hold nominating contests this weekend to choose the Republican and Democratic candidates for the November presidential election.

Following are a few facts about the primaries and caucuses in these states:

STATES HOLDING CONTESTS ON FEB. 9:

* WASHINGTON

Democrats meet in caucuses starting at 1:30 p.m. PST (2130 GMT) to allocate 78 delegates on a proportional basis.

Republicans hold caucuses starting at 1 p.m. PST (2100 GMT) that will allocate about half of their state's 40 delegates on a proportional basis. The remainder will be determined in a primary election on February 19.

* LOUISIANA

Democrats hold a primary, open to independent voters, that ends at 8 p.m. CST (0400 GMT). The 56 delegates at stake will be awarded on a proportional basis.

The Republican primary, which is not open to independents, also ends at 8 p.m. CST (0400 GMT). All of the 47 delegates at stake will be awarded to the winner.

* KANSAS

Republicans meet in caucuses starting at 10 a.m. CST (1600 GMT). All of the state's 39 delegates will be awarded to the winner.

Obama won the Democratic contest here on February 5.

* NEBRASKA

Democrats meet in caucuses between 9 a.m. CST (1500 GMT) and 7 p.m. CST (0100 GMT) to allocate their 24 delegates on a proportional basis.

Republicans hold their primary on May 13.
