USDA asks cloning firms to extend marketing ban
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Agriculture Department asked cloning firms on Tuesday to extend a voluntary moratorium on marketing meat and milk from cloned animals.
USDA made the request as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration released a final risk assessment on the cloning technology, which found food from cloned cattle, swine and goats is as safe as food from conventionally bred animals.
