LUSAKA (Reuters) - Zambian President Rupiah Banda said on Sunday his government would continue to welcome foreign investment and fight corruption while making the battle against poverty the focus of its agenda.

"I will make the fight against poverty the focus of my government," Banda said in an inauguration speech following his narrow victory in the October 29 presidential election.

"We will continue to welcome foreign investors in mining and other sectors ... We will continue to fight corruption and deliver good governance to our people."
