TEHRAN (Reuters) - Polling stations closed in Iran's parliamentary election on Friday after voting was extended to let more people vote in a poll likely to be won by conservative backers of the Islamic ruling system.

State radio said polling stations closed at 11 p.m. (3:30 p.m. EDT), five hours after the scheduled closing time of 6 p.m. (10:30 a.m. EDT). Such extensions are common in Iranian elections. Polls opened at 8 a.m. (12:30 a.m. EDT).

Officials said some polling stations would let in those still waiting to cast their ballots.
