Polls open for Pakistan's general election
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Polls opened on Monday for Pakistan's delayed parliamentary elections after a campaign marred by violence including the assassination of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto.
The election is for a new parliament, from where a government and prime minister will be drawn to rule in cooperation with former army chief President Pervez Musharraf, and marks the completion of a transition to civilian rule.
The elections, delayed from January 8 after Bhutto was murdered, are also for assemblies in Pakistan's four provinces.
