MOSCOW (Reuters) - The United States said on Friday the Russian-operated Qabala radar in Azerbaijan offered by Moscow as an alternative to Washington's planned missile shield in Europe would not be able to fully cope with the task.
Defense Secretary Robert Gates told a news conference the Qabala radar "would not be useful in terms of terminal guidance for intercepting a missile".
