Pirates seize Spanish tuna boat off Somalia -media

MADRID (Reuters) - Pirates have seized a Spanish tuna fishing boat carrying a crew of 26 off Somalia, Spanish media reported on Sunday.

The vessel Playa de Bakio was attacked with grenade launchers about 250 miles from the coast before being boarded by armed men, according to the reports quoting government sources. No-one was injured.

Officials were not available to comment.

The vessel was now heading towards the Somali coast and a Spanish navy frigate had been sent to the area from the Red Sea, the reports said.

Six Somali pirates who seized a French luxury yacht and held its crew hostage for a week were arrested by French troops in the Somali desert last week after they handed over their 30 hostages and fled with their ransom. They were flown to France for questioning.
