Kurd rebels take Turkish soldiers hostage: agency
ANKARA (Reuters) - Kurdish rebels have taken "many hostages" among Turkish soldiers, the pro-rebel Firat news agency said on Sunday, as troops battled guerrillas in southeast Turkey near the Iraqi border.
The report could not be independently confirmed. Firat, which is based in western Europe, is regarded in Turkey as a mouthpiece of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
