HEBRON, West Bank (Reuters) - A Palestinian teenager was killed by Israeli troops on Friday during a raid into a village near the West Bank city of Hebron, hospital officials said.

Witnesses said troops opened fire at residents of Beit Umar village after they hurled rocks at troops, killing the teenager.

An Israeli army spokesman said troops had initially used non-lethal riot dispersal means but resorted to live fire at the lower bodies of some demonstrators when they endangered the troops by throwing stones and large building blocks at them.
