SANAA (Reuters) - Torrential rains and thunderstorms killed about 50 people and destroyed homes and farms in several parts of Yemen since the beginning of August, officials said on Sunday.

About 20 people were injured in floods and storms which also killed hundreds of sheep and other animals in the Arab country, they said.

At least 20 people were killed earlier this year and thousands driven from their homes by flooding in Yemen, one of the poorest countries outside Africa.
