LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Britney Spears on Friday lost the right to visit her two young sons after refusing to hand them back in an incident that ended with her being taken to a hospital in hysterics.

The Los Angeles judge handling the custody dispute between Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline suspended the pop star's visitation rights at an emergency court hearing, court documents showed.

The documents said Spears' "visitation with the minor children is suspended pending further order of the court." It added that Federline was awarded "sole legal and physical custody" of the boys.

Spears, 26, lost custody of the boys in October 2007 but had been allowed court-monitored visits three times a week.
