BOGOTA (Reuters) - Three Colombians were killed early on Monday when a 747-200 cargo plane crashed into their house near the capital city Bogota while all eight crew members on board the aircraft survived, authorities said.

The accident was caused by a fire in one of the plane's jet engines, the civil aeronautical authority said.

One of the victims was a 14-year-old boy sleeping in his home when the Miami-bound plane crashed into it.

The crash took place minutes after the plane's takeoff from Bogota and television coverage showed debris strewn around the rural area.

The plane, owned by a company identified by local aeronautical authorities as Calitas and operated by a firm called Centurion, was transporting flowers to the U.S. market.
