NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India has demanded Pakistan hand over about 20 fugitives, the foreign minister said on Tuesday, as New Delhi stepped up pressure on its neighbor in the wake of the Mumbai attacks.

"We have in our demarche asked the arrest and hand over of those persons who are settled in Pakistan and who are fugitive of Indian law," Pranab Mukherjee told reporters.

"This exercise is going on ... and we await the response of Pakistan."
