WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The crash of a U.S. Airways passenger jet into the Hudson River off New York City on Thursday was not terrorism related, U.S. security officials said.

"There is no information at this time to indicate that this is a security-related incident," said Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Laura Keehner. "We continue to closely monitor the situation, which at present is focused on search and rescue."

Another official said the crash was not a terrorist attack.

The Federal Aviation Administration said it was investigating a possible collision between the jet and a bird.
