Pentagon confirms Iranians harassed U.S. Navy ships

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Five Iranian Revolutionary Guard boats harassed and provoked three U.S. Navy ships in the Strait of Hormuz, a reckless and potentially hostile incident in a major oil shipping route, a Pentagon spokesman said on Monday.

Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman confirmed the weekend incident during a briefing on Monday, saying Iranian actions were "careless, reckless and potentially hostile."
