Bush urges slowing growth of power plant emissions

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush on Wednesday will call for slowing the growth of the power industry's emissions so they begin to decline within 10 to 15 years as part of his goal to halt new greenhouse gas emissions by 2025.

"To reach our 2025 goal, we will need to more rapidly slow the growth of power sector greenhouse gas emissions so that they peak within 10 to 15 years, and decline thereafter," he plans to say later on Wednesday according to speech excerpts released by the White House.
