Bomber kills U.S. soldier at Afghanistan base after Panetta visit

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (Reuters) - One U.S. soldier was killed in a suicide bombing near a NATO base in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar on Thursday soon after a visit by U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, said a U.S. official.

His spokesman said there was no indication Panetta was the target of the attack which also wounded three American troops.
