LONDON Shares in British energy firm Centrica (CNA.L) rose as much as 2.5 percent on Tuesday on the back of market talk that Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway (BRKa.N) investment group was building a stake in the company, traders said.
Centrica shares were last up 2 percent at 306.5 pence a share by 1418 GMT, ranking them among the top percentage gainer on Britain's blue-chip FTSE 100 index .FTSE, which was down 0.3 percent.
Centrica was not immediately available for comment.
