CAIRO Nine airlines have canceled Saturday flights to and from Egypt's capital, Cairo airport officials said, after weeks of unrest that prompted foreign embassy travel warnings and a spate of cancellations.
Eleven airlines had already scrapped flights to Cairo on Wednesday, partly due to industrial action by airport customs officials and maintenance staff, which has now ended while management considers their demands. Airport officials said the new cancellations were by airlines including Air France, Iberia and British Airways after they decided the lack of demand made the services unfeasible.
Workers in Egypt's crisis-hit tourism industry joined mass demonstrations on Friday to appeal for travelers to return to its seaside resorts and ancient ruins.
