VILNIUS (Reuters) - Lithuania, a staunch ally of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, will send its foreign minister on a fact-finding mission to Georgia on Friday amid the growing conflict in South Ossetia, the president's office said.
The decision to send Foreign Minister Petras Vaitekunas to Georgia came after President Valdas Adamkus spoke with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana and Saakashvili.
The president's office said Vaitekunas would then be able to inform Lithuania's EU partners about the situation in Georgia.
