Gulf of Mexico platform not producing oil before fire: local media

(Reuters) - The Black Elk Energy platform in the Gulf of Mexico that caught fire on Friday was not producing oil at the time of the blast, according to a report on local television in Louisiana that cited Coast Guard Captain Peter Gautier.

Gautier said the fire was not likely to cause a major environmental disaster, according to report.
