AU stands by Ivory Coast electoral commission

ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) - The African Union said on Saturday it would take steps against those who attempt undermine Ivory Coast's election results as proclaimed by the electoral commission, which has pronounced Alassane Ouattara the winner.

Ouattara's win was overturned by Ivory Coast's top legal body, which handed victory to incumbent Laurent Gbagbo after scrapping thousands of votes, citing intimidation.

"The Council agreed to meet again to review the situation and take all the appropriate measures against the authors of acts likely to undermine the integrity of the electoral process including the results of the presidential election as proclaimed by the independent electoral commission," Ramtane Lamamra, Commissioner of Peace and Security for the AU said.
