U.S.-South Korea military exercises begin: U.S. official

SEOUL (Reuters) - Joint exercises between the U.S. and South Korean militaries have begun in the Yellow Sea, west of the Korean peninsula, an official from U.S. Forces Korea said on Sunday.

The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington has joined the exercise, the official told Reuters.

Regional giant China has expressed displeasure against the exercise while North Korea has said the consequences could not be predicted.
