Madagascar opposition says its leader to head transition

ANTANANARIVO (Reuters) - Officials of Madagascar’s opposition movement said Tuesday their leader Andry Rajoelina would head a transitional authority after the Indian Ocean island’s president handed over to the military.

Opposition officials, speaking at a ceremony when Rajoelina entered outgoing leader Marc Ravalomanana’s offices, said the opposition would organize elections within 24 months and re-write the constitution to create a “Fourth Republic.”
