MasterCard says working to suspend WikiLeaks card use

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Credit card group MasterCard said on Wednesday it was experiencing heavy traffic on its external corporate website and was working to suspend acceptance of MasterCard cards on WikiLeaks as a result.

"MasterCard is currently in the process of working to suspend the acceptance of MasterCard cards on WikiLeaks until the situation is resolved," a MasterCard spokeswoman in Belgium said in a statement emailed to Reuters on Wednesday.

In a separate statement the company, which is headquartered in Belgium, said it was experiencing heavy traffic on its external corporate website and that it was working to restore the normal speed of service.
