NEW YORK, June 29 (Reuters Life!) - In a city that never sleeps, full of actors dreaming of making it big, Norman Perez has found a creative way of putting himself in the spotlight.
Perez has attempted to set a Guinness record by continuously typing on a computer keyboard for five consecutive days, except for a five-minute break every hour.
Being constantly glued to his laptop is part obsession, part necessity.
"I'm always looking for auditions online. That's the way it works now, it's on a computer, so I'm so used to typing," said Perez from Burbank, California.
Perez began his stunt on Monday in the front window of a realty company in midtown Manhattan and wrapped it up on Friday.
The stunt resulted from a bet by a stranger who dared Perez to try for a record after seeing him each week typing on his laptop in the coffee shop where they're both regulars.
Perez said he stayed awake by chatting with strangers online and even received a marriage proposal. He will submit his record attempt to Guinness World Records in the coming weeks.
