NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Northeast was in store for a cold and dry day on Tuesday, forecasters said, with temperatures running 5 to 15 degrees below average in the entire region.
Winds could get gusty, occasionally blowing at more than 30 miles per hour.
Dry weather continued in the most of the Plains, with no relief in sight for at least the next 10 days. Some showers were expected in eastern areas, but more rain will be needed soon.
Cold and wet weather should continue in the western and southern Midwest and in the Delta this week.
