FOREX-Dollar extends gain in wake of jobless claims data

NEW YORK, June 19 (Reuters) - The dollar extended gains versus the euro and touched a session high against the yen on Thursday in the wake of a report showing a decline in weekly jobless claims.

The euro pushed to a low of $1.5470 and was last trading at $1.5488 EUR=, down 0.3 percent on the day. The dollar rose to a session high of 107.99 yen JPY=. It was last up 0.1 percent at 107.93 yen.

Initial claims for state unemployment insurance benefits declined to a seasonally adjusted 381,000 in the week ended June 14, from a revised 386,000 the prior week, the Labor Department said. (Reporting by Lucia Mutikani; Editing by Theodore d'Afflisio)
