NEW YORK Feb 20 Nouriel Roubini, a prominent
New York University economist who has predicted much of the
credit and housing recession, on Friday said the U.S. is in the
"third and fourth innings" of a severe banking and financial
"We are still in the third and fourth innings," Roubini
told Reuters in an interview, using a baseball analogy to drive
home his view on the current economic cycle.
"We are still in the middle of a severe banking and
financial market crisis -- and it's getting worse," he added.
Roubini also said he sees negative economic growth
throughout 2009, predicting that the unemployment rate could
reach roughly 10 percent in the next year.
