Feb 16 (Reuters) - Online advertising firm ValueClick Inc VCLK.O swung to a quarterly profit and forecast first quarter revenue below expectations, sending its shares down 5 percent after the bell.
For the fourth quarter, the company posted net income from continuing operations of $17.4 million, or 20 cents per share, compared with a loss of $221.4 million, or $2.55 per share, a year ago.
Excluding items, the company earned 25 cents per share. Analysts were expecting 16 cents per share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Revenue was about flat at $110.4 million and came in below analyst’ projections of $132.41 million.
For the first quarter, ValueClick, which owns brands such as Commission Junction, Smarter.com, CouponMountain.com and PriceRunner, said it expects adjusted earnings of 15 cents to 16 cents per share on revenue of $93 million to $97 million.
Analysts were looking for earnings of 16 cents on revenue of $129.17 million.
Shares of the Westlake Village, California-based company were down 5 percent at $8.67 in trading after the bell. They closed at $9.13 Tuesday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Mansi Dutta in Bangalore; Editing by Unnikrishnan Nair)
