FACTBOX: Candidates on Florida primary results

(Reuters) - Arizona Sen. John McCain won Florida's Republican presidential primary on Tuesday, establishing himself as front-runner in the race to be the party's candidate for the November election. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney placed second in a close contest.

Here are some quotes from the candidates' remarks to supporters:

JOHN MCCAIN, ARIZONA SENATOR:

"Our victory might not have reached landslide proportions, but it is sweet nonetheless."

MITT ROMNEY, FORMER MASSACHUSETTS GOVERNOR:

"You guys are my heroes. You took this campaign from nowhere to the very top tier. You worked your hearts out, and you made me a contender."

RUDY GIULIANI, FORMER NEW YORK MAYOR

"Elections are about a lot more than just candidates. Elections are about fighting for a cause larger than ourselves. Win or lose, our work is not done."

MIKE HUCKABEE, FORMER ARKANSAS GOVERNOR:

"For those of you that think I should be discouraged, let me just remind you that going into tonight, we were second in delegate count and, more importantly, we're playing all nine innings of this ballgame."
