FACTBOX: Security developments in Iraq

(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 12 p.m. EDT on Tuesday.

* denotes new or updated item.

* BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed seven suspected militants and detained eight others in operations targeting al Qaeda members in central and northern Iraq on Monday, the U.S. military said.

* BAQUBA - Three policeman were killed and three others wounded in a roadside bomb attack targeting their patrol in Abu Sayda village in northern Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

KERBALA - The death toll from a bombing in the holy Shi'ite city of Kerbala on Monday has risen to 47, with another 75 wounded, said senior Kerbala health official Salim Kadhim. Five Iranian pilgrims were among the dead, he said. Kerbala security chief Raad Shakir said the blast was caused by a bomb planted in the cafe but the U.S. military said it was a suicide bomber wearing a vest packed with explosives.

BAGHDAD - Three bodies were found in different areas of Baghdad on Monday, police said.

MADAEN - Four bodies were found in a grave in a deserted house in Madaen, 45 km (25 miles) south of Baghdad, on Monday, police said.

BAGHDAD - Two mortar bombs killed five people and wounded seven others near a school in eastern Baghdad's Ghader district on Monday, police said.

BAGHDAD - One person was killed and 13 wounded by a roadside bomb in a market in northern Baghdad's Shaab district, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed three people, including two traffic policemen, and wounded six others in northern Baghdad's Binoog district, police said.

MOSUL - Three people were killed and 45 others wounded by a bomb in a parked car in Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

ISKANDARIYA - A member of a neighborhood security unit was killed and another wounded when a roadside bomb exploded near a checkpoint in Iskandariya, 40 km (25 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - The Iraqi Army arrested 51 suspected militants in operations across Iraq over the past 24 hours, the defense ministry said.

BAGHDAD - Seven people, including three Iraqi soldiers, were wounded when a bomb in a parked car blew up near an army checkpoint in western Baghdad's Yarmouk district, police said.

BAIJI - Two members of a neighborhood security unit were killed in a drive-by shooting at a checkpoint in Baiji, 180 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.
