NATO says troops fired on in Serb Kosovo riots

PRISTINA (Reuters) - NATO troops came under automatic weapons fire during Serb riots in the northern Kosovo flashpoint town of Mitrovica on Monday, a French NATO spokesman told Reuters.

There were no further details. Reuters witness reported hearing gunfire as hundreds of Serbs clashed with NATO peacekeepers and U.N. police in the town, and U.N . police were later ordered to withdraw.
