JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday in Jerusalem, an Israeli government official said on Sunday.

Olmert will meet with Abbas to discuss progress in negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians and the two leaders will follow up on issues brought up in previous meetings, the official said.

Olmert and Abbas last met on August 6 in the West Bank city of Jericho. Olmert had expanded the scope of discussions with Abbas to include so-called "fundamental issues" that are key to ending the conflict.

But aides to Olmert and Abbas emerged from the previous summit with differing explanations of what "fundamental" meant and whether the leaders were discussing any of the main final-status issues of borders and the future of Jerusalem and Palestinian refugees.
